Google is working towards replacing it with a new operating system, according to a report by Bloomberg, Google has been working on a project named Fuchsia for 2 years. Under the project – “Fuchsia”, Google wants to develop an operating system that will replace Google's Android OS in the coming days.
This project of Google was discovered in August 2016, Google started posting the code without any announcements in the GitHub repository under the project, but no one knew about what the Google wanted to do under the project. A report published on July 19 said that a team of Google engineers has been working on the project for the last 2 years to replace Android's major mobile operating system.
One OS for all devices
It has been said in the report that the Google team working on such an operating system that replaces the Android operating system chrome operating system and Google's smart home hardware device Operating System. Google wants the new operating system to run all of the devices connected to it apart from Google. Operating systems running on Google are based on Linux Kernal but this project is being run on a new microkernel Zircon. This new operating system will be based on Zircon and not dependent on Linux and Google's reliance on Linux will be less.
It will be available for smart home devices first of all
The team of Google engineers wants to launch this operating system with Google home smart speaker in the coming three years. After the success of these devices, the company can present it on larger devices like laptops and smartphones in the next 5 years. Google has been trying to develop the same operating system for the last several years for mobile, tablet, laptops and other smart devices, this project can be an attempt by Google. Google's CEO, Pichai, and his deputy, who watching Android and Chrome have not signed on any roadmap for this project yet. Google's executives have to work a lot in thinking about any plan for changing the operating system. Because this software supports dozens of hardware partners and billions of dollars of mobile advertising.
There are indications that strict security measures have been taken in the project. Engineers of Google have made encrypted users key that can be seen in online posted code. This is a privacy tool that protects users' information every time the software is updated. Google has also recruited experts for stringent security measures. Security engineer Nick Kralevich working for Android for 9 years has started working on the project in January. This information is from his Linkedin profile. With the help of such security measures, Google can challenge its main smartphone maker Apple Inc. Google cannot turn off Chrome and Android support. There may be many threats to Google if they are separates from Android and Chrome. Independent developers like Samsung LG and all the device manufacturers are dependent on the Android operating system. Chrome OS is also an important software. It runs on web-based laptops used by schools and other organizations. In such a situation, Google Android and Chrome Web support cannot be closed and move on Fuchsia the project.
